Kids point to our atlatl javelin stuck in the school roof at Holly Park Primary School

Holly Park Primary School, London

Like us, this super school in Friern Barnet, north London, has had to move with the changing National Curriculum in England: whilst last year they tackled the Aztecs, this year (2014) they’ve switched to the Maya. On both occasions we thoroughly enjoyed working with their Year 6 pupils, teachers Avalon and Steve (and of course the wonderful school cat, Marble). When it came to demonstrating the atlatl - used by both Aztec and Maya warriors - we were all gobsmacked when the demo foam javelin got stuck in the frame of one of the school theatre spotlights (can you spot it?)

We loved their rainforest artwork - and their rainforest creature masks, which they all wore to our Maya workshop.
Last year they followed up on our Aztecs visit by making a splendid model of the centre of the Sunstone; all of one class did their bit. Nice work, guys!
