Skull and crossbones clay dish, Mexica (1325-1521 CE), ceramic, diameter 16.2 cms., National Museum of Anthropology, Mexico City.
Ceramic dish decorated with crossbones motifs, from the centre of Mexico City. Aztec pottery production was prolific, and this dish was found alongside a multitude of other polychrome ceramic objects at the site of El Volador, south of the sacred precinct of Tenochtitlan.
